ERIC COHEN

Mr. Cohen is Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Calida Group, where he leverages more than two decades of development and operational experience in leading the firm’s Multifamily Development platform.  Besides sitting on Calida’s Investment Committee and Executive Committee, Mr. Cohen’s responsibilities include overseeing development sourcing, entitlements, design, and project operations.  Mr. Cohen is the lead design force behind the Elysian Living family of brands, Calida’s nationally recognized experiential lifestyle collection of apartment communities.  Before forming The Calida Group in 2007, Mr. Cohen was responsible for the successful development and entitlement of nearly 8,000 units for firms including Trammell Crow Residential, The Altman Companies and JPI.  Mr. Cohen holds a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree with an emphasis in Finance and Real Estate from Florida Atlantic University. He is a member of Young Presidents Organization.

DOUGLAS EISNER

As Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Calida Group, Mr. Eisner sits on Calida’s Investment Committee and Executive Committee.  Mr. Eisner is primarily responsible for the strategic planning and growth of the company.  Mr. Eisner oversees all capital markets activities, including project level debt and equity placement, and fund formation.  Additionally, Mr. Eisner oversees the marketing efforts for the company, and is credited with growing the Elysian Living™ platform from a single property into the iconic lifestyle brand it is today.  Prior to forming The Calida Group in 2007, Mr. Eisner was a partner at Alliance Residential Company and worked in the capital transactions department of Lend Lease Real Estate Investments (purchased by Morgan Stanley).  Mr. Eisner graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Systems Engineering. He is a member of Young Presidents Organization.

JARED WEINSTOCK

Mr. Weinstock is the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of The Calida Group and is responsible for all legal and operational aspects of The Calida Group and its affiliated entities. Prior to joining The Calida Group in 2015, Mr. Weinstock was General Counsel, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Development for Metropolitan Pacific Real Estate Group, a real estate developer based in Santa Monica, CA. At Metropolitan, Mr. Weinstock was responsible for the legal and financial operations of the company and project entitlements and development. Mr. Weinstock began his career as an investment banking analyst at Lehman Brothers. After graduate school, he practiced law in the real estate group at Paul Hastings, LLP, where he specialized in representing developers and financial institutions in the hospitality industry, and subsequently, spent several years managing investment portfolios for ultra high net worth families and 501(c) 3 foundations. Mr. Weinstock is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (B.A., cum laude, in Russian and in Economics), UCLA School of Law (J.D.) and UCLA Anderson School of Management (M.B.A.). Mr. Weinstock is also an avid martial artist and holds a black belt in Krav Maga and a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Mr. Weinstock lives in Los Angeles with his wife, two sons and two adopted terriers. 

LAURI SAMPSON

Ms. Sampson is the Controller for The Calida Group and its affiliated companies, and her team handles all aspects of project and corporate accounting. On the project accounting side, the team’s responsibilities include: job-cost accounting during entitlements and construction, partnership level accounting once in operations (the property managers handle the day-today property operations accounting), lender and investor reporting, and insurance/risk management. On the corporate accounting side, Ms. Sampson oversees all corporate accounting and payroll functions. She has over 20 years of accounting and financial experience in the real estate industry including development, construction, and property management. Prior to joining The Calida Group, Ms. Sampson worked with Turnberry Associates in their residential division in Las Vegas focusing on project forecasts and financials and managing the cost accounting on their high-rise hotel/condo projects. Prior to Turnberry, Ms. Sampson assisted in opening the residential division in Las Vegas for The Related Companies where she was responsible for the accounting on the pre-development of two high-rise projects with budgets of $400 million and $3 billion respectively. Prior to moving to Las Vegas Ms. Sampson spent several years in Raleigh, North Carolina as the Controller for real estate developers that constructed and managed several luxury apartment complexes. Ms. Sampson received her Bachelor of Science in Business and Accounting at Wayne State College in Nebraska. She has been active in various community organizations as an officer, mentor and volunteer.

JULI HUNT

Ms. Hunt is President of Construction. She is responsible for leading the construction team’s efforts in document development and project oversight of wrap, podium and other high density multi-family endeavors. Ms. Hunt joined The Calida Group in 2016. She brings over 25 years of multi-family construction and development experience to the team.  She has worked for several leaders in the multi-family industry including Trammell Crow and Gables. She has been responsible for the successful completion of more than 4,500 multi-family units in nine states including garden walk-up, podium and wrap products.  In addition, she has completed Senior Housing product in the Las Vegas market including the first income based assisted living facility in Nevada.  Ms. Hunt’s responsibilities have included construction drawing development, permitting, budgeting, estimating and on-site project management. Most recently, she oversaw the construction of two adjacent wrap projects in Southern California which were comprised of 785 multi-family units and two parking structures valued at $120,000,000.  Ms. Hunt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from The University of the South in Sewanee, TN.  An animal lover, Ms. Hunt works with two rescue organizations in her adopted home town of Cabo San Lucas, MX.

JOSH NELSON

Mr. Nelson is the Chief Investment Officer at Calida. In this role, Mr. Nelson is responsible for overseeing all acquisition, development and asset management related activities across The Calida Group’s affiliated real estate holdings. Mr. Nelson is also a member of Calida’s Executive Committee and Investment Committee. Prior to joining Calida, Mr. Nelson worked on the corporate development and mergers & acquisitions team at Liberty Media & Liberty Interactive, a Fortune 300 private equity stylized, investment fund. At Liberty, Mr. Nelson’s activities primarily involved identifying strategic investment opportunities, and spearheading due diligence across technology, media and telecommunication verticals. At Liberty, Mr. Nelson was involved in the investment of more than $2.4B. Mr. Nelson is a graduate of Colorado State University (B.S., summa cum laude, in Business Administration), USC Dollinger (M.R.E.D) and USC Marshall (M.B.A.).

CHRIS LEGGEE

Mr. Leggee is Senior Vice President of Capital Markets – Mr. Leggee leads all private equity capital and debt placement initiatives for The Calida Group’s strategic investment vehicles spanning multifamily and mixed-use properties. Mr. Leggee is responsible for identifying, acquiring and building relationships with institutional, high net worth and family office investors to support the firm’s development and acquisition strategies. Additionally, he tracks industry trends and research to guide the firm’s growth plans. Prior to Calida, Mr. Leggee lead the capital markets and investor relations efforts for Griffis Residential, having raised $1B in discretionary equity funds from private and institutional investors. Mr. Leggee holds a B.S. in Real Estate and Finance from DePaul University. He serves on the Emerging Leaders Board of the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC). Mr. Leggee is a member of PREA, and participates on the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Multifamily Green Council. He also serves on the Development Committee of the Denver Art Museum and the NG2 board of the Denver Health Foundation.

HAYDEN SIMBAL

Mr. Simbal is the Vice President of Development (Southwest) responsible for overseeing entitlements, design development, underwriting, transaction structuring, and assisting with capital markets and asset management in the Southwest U.S., specifically, Nevada and Arizona. Mr. Simbal has worked on over $1B of development projects across deal life cycles covering the Western United States. Mr. Simbal is an alumnus of the University of Southern California, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate Development.

ADAM LANG

Mr. Lang is is the Vice President of Development (Pacific Northwest) responsible for land acquisition, entitlements, plans development, underwriting, market research, transaction structuring, capital markets, and asset management. Mr. Lang is currently overseeing the development of over 2,500 multifamily units across three major MSAs and has been involved with approximately $45M of land transactions since joining Calida in February 2022. Prior to Calida, Mr. Lang worked for both institutional and boutique-sized organizations including CBRE, Kilroy Realty Corporation, and Tanner & White Properties. Additionally, Mr. Lang founded and managed a small family office fund in Los Angeles. Mr. Lang graduated magna cum laude from Drake University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Accounting. He also graduated from the University of Southern California with a Master’s in Real Estate Development. 

SAAM ALIKHANI

Mr. Alikhani is the Vice President of Acquisitions (Southwest) responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and evaluating acquisition opportunities, as well as executing the asset-level business plans in Calida’s Southwest markets. Previously, Mr. Alikhani led multifamily acquisitions at Drake Real Estate Partners, a value-add Limited Partner in New York, where he executed over $300M in acquisitions and dispositions. Mr. Alikhani also held an adjunct professorship at Columbia University in New York, teaching the Real Estate Capital Partnership course to Master’s students in real estate development. Mr. Alikhani graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Alikhani holds an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.

ETHAN KINGSLEY

Mr. Kingsley is the Vice President of Asset Management leading all aspects of the asset management platform overseeing all responsibilities across the entire portfolio. Before joining The Calida Group, Mr. Kingsley was head of acquisitions and asset management for PBC USA, a vertically integrated real estate owner and operator with a ~$2.5 billion asset portfolio. Prior to PBC USA, Mr. Kingsley worked for The Carlyle Group where he asset managed over $1.5 billion of operating and development assets including over 5,000 apartment units and 1.5 million SF of office and retail primarily located in Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. Mr. Kingsley started his career at Deutsche Bank in the Real Estate, Gaming, Leisure and Lodging Investment Banking Group. Mr. Kingsley received his B.S. in business administration from Drexel University.
